Ceramics, Israeli Designers zohar shaham | black. white. gray.

from time to time i come across a ceramist, who speaks my language. and by that i mean, minimal objects in my favorite color combination. black, white and gray. nothing more and nothing less. exactly what the heart desires. i’m not sure when or where i first stumbled upon zohar shaham’s creations, but when i did, my heart skipped a beat. there’s something simple and unapologetic in zohar’s creation.
the fact that she first lived a life as a soil and water sciences undergraduate, explains a lot. only later in life, she decided to take the leap and signed up for a second round of undergraduate studies at the department of ceramics and glass design at the bezalel academy. i guess all roads led back to the soil, the clay and the water.
zohar’s objects invite you to touch and feel and they portray softness and sensitivity.
for the record, zohar uses a few other colors in her vocabulary, but you know me… the brain sees what the heart wants it to feel.
