i miss tel aviv so damn much. in fact, i miss it so much, that i started a never ending list of all the places that i need to visit once i’ll be able to hop on that damn plane. and if i’m being completely honest, i scroll through that list almost every night. i’m that desperate. and yeah, i know i’m not the only one who has been dreaming about flying for the last ten months or so. the thing is, i didn’t plan on being away from israel for more than a year. it never happened before. not even once since we moved to the US almost eight years ago.
anyways, i’m only writing this as an introduction to my next discovery. a discovery that got me even more homesick. i didn’t think it was even possible but here we are. i’m talking about tel aviv, city stories. it’s an illustrated urban guide for creative travelers by citykat stories. and if you ask yourself, why do i need a guide? well, at this point, i consider myself a tourist.
tel aviv, city stories is a coloring & activity book, travel journal and a city guide all in one. how brilliant is that?!
as a tel avivian travel guide, you’ll get all the survival guides, insider tips, to-do lists, fun facts, food spots and much more. that’s a given! but what made me extra excited about this guide was the added bonus of 120 pages of original illustrations of the city. you could look at it as a coloring book or as i’m about to look at it, a stare only, don’t-touch-any- of-the-illustrations kind of guide.
the guide was written by ira ginzburg, james oppenheim and sarah tuttle-singer with beautiful line illustrations by meital nissim eliav. the thing i enjoyed the most, was discovering my most favorite spots around the city as illustrations. i mean, some places hold a different meaning to different people and witnessing all these tel avivian gems, through meital’s illustrated eye, made me love tel aviv even more!
fyi, the guide was published in 2018 but i discovered it just now so that’s that.
fyi 2, i just found out a few copies on amazon so that’s that. 2.
Thank you See you soon
