Industrial Design, Israeli Designers Meirav Barzilay | Celebrating Manual Crafts and White Squirrels

Say hello to Norman, Meirav Barzilay’s adorable lamp.
It’s been not too long since I wrote about her Dübel Collection, but I guess this gal is working like crazy.
In her latest project, Meirav is referring to the art of taxidermy and trying to bring it into the product design world. Just like the taxidermy preserves the extinct animal, this design tries to preserve the disappearing craftsmanship of turners, sculptors and glass blowers.
In her own sensitive way, Meirav is celebrating the world of manual craft.
The fun part is that you can replace the ceramic squirrel with your own figure. I would have left it just the way it is, but I love squirrels (and I have a insta-pic or two to back me on this one).
