A Week in My All Time Favorite City (aka NYC)

Hi there. My name is Einat, Travel A Week in My All Time Favorite City (aka NYC)

I’m not sure if I mentioned that about a week ago I visited my favorite girlfriend (aka Sivan) at my favorite city (aka NYC). I guess you knew about it if you follow my Instagram and Facebook.
I thought it would be nice sharing with you some of the things I did during that week, so here it goes.
The minute I arrived, I was greeted with Magnolia Bakery‘s yummiest banana pudding (It’s Sivan’s favorite treat). From there it was a roller coaster ride, visiting some pretty amazing foodie destinations.

At Bouchon Bakery I ate this amazing jelly cookie (and of course I bought some to take home). At Cafe Gitane (inside the Jane Hotel) I ate their “cucumber, yogurt, mint with hummus, chili flakes and pita bread”. It doesn’t get any better than that. I heard so much about Ippudo NY and so had to try their Hirata Buns (the best I’ve ever eaten) and Ramen. What else… I had to try the “corn on the cob” at Westville. Lime, cumin butter and cotija cheese is not something that I can leave behind. Just before that I had to visit the High Line. I’m so in love with this green piece of heaven in the middle of that hectic city. While there, don’t miss the La Newyorkina‘s Mexican popsicles (you’ll thank me later)!
I know it’s A LOT of food but… I have to be honest, I loved every single minute. And so, just one more foodie stop for the road. It goes by the name Sockerbit and if you like a white space filled with Scandinavian sweets, that’s definitely the place to visit.

And then there was Brooklyn… actually it was my first “real” visit and I loved it so much that I returned for a second time. On my first time, I met my super gorgeous and talented friend, Ruta who showed me a good time around her hood (aka Williamsburg). We began with an Israeli breakfast in Cafe Mogador and let me tell you, us Israelis, LOVE our breakfasts! From there, we strolled around and visited the some magical stores. We had to explore NYC’s skyline but only after buying some pastries at the Bakeri (you need to visit this Parisian like bakery!). I also wanted to explore the BELLOCQ – Tea Atelier in Greenpoint and after arriving there I discovered that it’s only open during the weekend (I need to read the small print. I never learn!).

On my second visit to Williamsburg, I began the day with a blind date with one of my favorite ceramists, Re Jin, the sweetest gal behind Bailey Doesn’t Bark. We strolled the streets and ended up at the Brooklyn Flea Market and ate some pretty amazing Doughnuts. After that I met Sivan and since she is all about street art I had to explore the streets through her eyes. That day was one of the hottest days I’ve experienced for a while now, so we had to cool down at the rooftop of the Wythe Hotel.

Photos by me except for the last one that was shoot by Sivan Askayo. And yes… that's actually me in the last pic.

Besides eating like crazy it was also some sort of a cultural break. We went to see the Pilobolus dance company at The Joyce Theater and also Once: a New Musical. They both were SO GOOD! Of course we visited the MoMA (I loved the Claes Oldenburg exhibition, after all it’s a foodie exhibition). I had to also visit my talented friend Ruta at the MAD Museum (my favorite museum in the city) since she is one of their open studio artists (you should visit her and say hi for me). I enjoyed their Fashion Jewelry exhibition.
And then… I or should I say we went a little bit crazy at J.CrewMadewell and Anthropologie . What can I say, girls will always be girls.
